Hi, wherever you’re staying in this lovely part of Victoria, we think it's worth taking the time to drive over to Dig at Newstead for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

As the warm and inviting atmosphere envelopes you, you’ll find locals mulling over coffee and the paper and friends meeting for their daily or weekly catch up. Then you’ll probably notice the beautiful aromas, because everything you can order is prepared and cooked on the premises.

If you’re in the mood for wine, there’s a local & regional list with a regularly changing “wine of the week”. As for coffee, we have our own, courtesy of “Coffee Basics" and their Tiger Mountain blend, which is 100 percent Arabica and freshly roasted in Castlemaine.

If you’re vegetarian or you want gluten-free food, no problem. And if you’re particularly fond of pizza, Friday and Saturday nights are for you. Gourmet pizzas are served from 6 o’clock, to eat in or take away. Also available on the same evenings is a seasonally changing a la carte menu – using local & organic produce whenever possible. It’s a good idea to book if you’re coming on any of these evenings. As an added bonus, you can enjoy all we have to offer whilst perusing our frequently changing art displays from local contemporary artists.

There’s alfresco seating under the front verandah and in the pleasant little rear courtyard which, like the rest of dig, is wheelchair friendly. Net friendly too. If you need to stay “in touch”, just turn on your laptop and log in to Network Newstead. And if you’d like something to remember us by, there’s a variety of jams, relishes, biscuits, quince and red wine paste, even our famous Chai tea, to take home with you.
